About Xbox Live outages
Xbox network problems usually begin at sign-in, because the console authenticates against the same Microsoft identity platform that serves Microsoft 365. That shared dependency means an Entra ID incident can lock players out of games at the same moment it locks office workers out of Teams.
Microsoft's Xbox status page breaks the network into account, social and gaming, store and subscriptions, and cloud gaming, and is one of the better consumer status pages in that it names affected games. Common symptoms are 0x8027025A and 0x87DD0006 error codes, Game Pass titles that report an expired licence, and cloud gaming sessions that fail to allocate a server. A licence error on a downloaded game while the console is offline is usually fixed by making the console your home Xbox rather than by waiting for a service to recover.
