The terms that apply to using this site, its data and its API. Written to be read.
The data is observational, not a guarantee
Everything published here is what one monitoring network observed from one vantage point. It is provided as-is, with no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose. The methodology page sets out, in detail, the specific ways this data can be wrong.
Do not use it as the sole basis for a decision that matters. If you need to know whether a provider is having an incident before acting on it - Cancelling a deployment, escalating to a supplier, claiming against a service level agreement - The provider's own status page is the authoritative source, and we link to it wherever one exists.
Acceptable use
You may read, link to, quote and build on this site freely. You may not:
- Submit false problem reports, or automate report submission.
- Use the on-demand checker to probe hosts you do not have permission to probe, to scan address ranges, or as a general-purpose request proxy.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, or send automated traffic beyond the published API limits.
- Scrape the site in place of using the free API, which exists precisely so nobody has to.
- Post comments that are advertising, abuse, or anything designed to manipulate another site's search rankings.
The checker refuses private, loopback and link-local addresses, non-standard ports and non-HTTP schemes. Trying to get around those protections is a misuse of the service and will be treated as one.
Comments
You keep ownership of what you write, and grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it here. You are responsible for your own comments. We remove anything that is spam, abusive, contains someone's personal information, or is demonstrably false in a way that damages a named company.
Three independent flags hide a comment pending review; hiding rather than deleting means a moderator can restore it. Persistent abuse results in an account ban. There is no appeal process beyond emailing us, which in practice is enough.
The API
Free for any use, commercial included, within the published rate limits. Cache for at least sixty seconds. Do not present the data as the provider's own status, and do not claim any relationship with IsItDown.now that does not exist. There is no uptime commitment on the API, which would be an odd promise for a site about outages to make.
Trademarks and logos
Company and product names on this site are trademarks of their owners, used descriptively for the purpose of reporting on service availability. No affiliation or endorsement is claimed or implied.
We also display each service's own icon beside its name, at small size, solely to identify which service a page is about. The icons are downloaded from each company's own website and served from ours, so that no visitor request is sent to a third party. They are not modified beyond being resized onto a square canvas, and they are never used as an endorsement.
If you own a mark used here and want the logo removed, or believe anything is being used inaccurately, tell us - We act on those promptly and without argument.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its data, including indirect or consequential loss. This does not limit any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
